8-23-14: Two arrested in early morning home burglary.

On 8-23-14, at about 1:38 AM, officers were sent to a home in the 600 block of S. Vernon on a burglary in progress.  A witness had contacted the home owner, who was not at the residence, and told him that he had seen a Hispanic male inside the home, near the back door.  The unknown HM was carrying a handgun.  A second HM suspect had been seen running down the alley.  The owner called the police and met officers at his home.  He was able to tell officers that the two suspects were in a red pickup that left, going north from the area.    Officers began checking the area and saw two men walk out of an alley north of the scene, near S. Vernon and Fairview Boulevard.  The officer detained the men.  One was carrying a BB gun designed to look like a real firearm in his waistband.  Both were taken into custody and escorted back to the burglary.  Officers found that the suspects had entered the home by removing a window air conditioning unit.  The suspects left television sets and other items from the home stacked by the back door when they left.  A laptop computer was missing.  The two suspects matched the physical description the original witness provided to the home owner, and officers found shoe prints that matched the men’s shoes in the back yard of the home.  The suspect Jeffrey Alexis Vivar HM 20 was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for burglary of a habitation.  Jaime Ubaldo Caraveo HM 18 was also booked at PCDC for burglary.  He also had misdemeanor warrants connected to a class B theft charge, a probation violation for theft warrant, and two warrants stemming from failure to attend school charges issued though the Justice of the Peace court.  Officers are still seeking the red pickup and a third suspect involved in this incident.  There is no information available on the third suspect at this time.
