OSBI Agents Investigate Ardmore P.D. In-Custody Death

At approximately 7 o'clock Friday evening, the Ardmore Police Department received a call reference a domestic assault occurring at 1109 Holiday Drive, apartment 9E. When officers arrived, they found Rondre Hornbeak's (d.o.b. 11-25-1975) hands restrained with a belt. His sister and brother-in-law visited Hornbeak's apartment to check on his welfare. When Hornbeak opened his apartment door, he immediately began to assault his sister. Officers arrested Hornbeak for domestic violence and drove him to jail. When the transporting officer arrived at the jail, the officer requested Hornbeak exit the vehicle. The officer noticed Hornbeak was unresponsive and called for medical help. Detention officers at the jail immediately began resuscitation efforts until medics arrived on the scene. Hornbeak was rushed to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Ardmore police chief called OSBI to investigate the in-custody death. Agents have interviewed numerous witnesses where Hornbeak was taken into custody, interviewed family members, and officers. The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy this week to determine the cause and manner of death.
