On August 20, 2014, Temple Sheriff’s Station coordinated a multi-jurisdictional inspection of five massage businesses in the City of South El Monte. This operation involved forty-four personnel including LASD Special Assignment Teams from the cities of South El Monte, Rosemead, Temple, Duarte, and the Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Team. Other units included LASD Major Crimes Bureau - Licensing Detail, South El Monte Code Enforcement, California Employment Development Department, California Department of Industrial Relations, and the California Department of Insurance - Fraud Division.
In addition to fines issued in the tens of thousands of dollars to three of the five businesses, three of the businesses were shut down by State authorities.
