Police Chief's back to school message

Hi Sachse e-Watch Community!
Just a note reminding everyone that Monday is the first day for students to be back in Public School.
*Please be aware that Sachse Road remains under construction between Merritt Road and Woodbridge Parkway and Country Club Road. The City has asked the construction company to keep Sachse Road open for two way traffic each morning until 9 a.m. The road will then be restricted until 3:30 p.m. when it will again be opened to two way traffic until 4:30 p.m. At that time the construction company will be allowed to restrict traffic again if needed. Please try to avoid Sachse Road by using an alternate route if at all possible.
We do want to remind everyone to be careful and pay special attention around schools and in residential areas for kids.
Some things to remember:
Watch for pedestrians everywhere, not just at cross walks. It will be dark and kids can be hard to see.
Go Early! To both drop off and pick up your kids. Driving and parking around all of the schools will be difficult at best. Especially during the first week of school you will find that things are a bit chaotic with long traffic lines and long waits as drivers learn how to maneuver in and out of the school area. The police department will be paying special attention to the High School and Middle School area. Officers will be assisting with traffic control intermittently during the first week. By the second week drivers will have become more familiar with the flow of traffic and things will run much smoother.
Be courteous to other drivers. Take turns and let others in and out of the school lots.
It remains unlawful to use a phone while operating a motor vehicle in a school zone.
And, the speed limit in School Zones remains 20 miles per hour. We do not give tolerance in these zones. The safety of the kids is just too important.
Please watch for traffic flow changes because of the new open extension of Hudson Drive as it now connects with Merritt Road.
Thanks and please be careful.
Don’t forget to ask your neighbors and friends to sign up for the e-Watch and our Neighborhood Video Partnership programs.
