Advisory

Strong Rip Current Warning in Effect for this Weekend

The National Weather Service issued a warning regarding high temperatures and strong rip currents this weekend.

On behalf of the Manhattan Beach Police and Fire Departments and the Los Angeles County Lifeguards, please use extreme caution when entering the water.  Parents, please don't leave your children unattended in the water.

If you do get caught in a rip current, allow it to take you out until the current dissipates and then swim to the side of it, as illustrated in the attached drawing from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
