On August 21, 2014 at 5:37 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of S Western St and Hollywood Road on a traffic accident. Responding officers found that a motor vehicle had struck a bicyclist and fled the scene. The bicyclist, Tracy James Hays WM, 50 of Amarillo had been eastbound on Hollywood, riding left of center, in the westbound lane at Western. A white motor vehicle was turning from northbound on Western to westbound on Hollywood Road. The motor vehicle and the bike collided. The motor vehicle fled the scene. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.
