Summary:

Unincorporated Redwood City, CA- On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at approximately 11:09am, San Mateo County Public Safety Communications received report of an individual, identified as Kevin Michael Dolf, attempting to cash a fraudulent check at the Chavez Supermarket. Deputies responded and located Dolf, at which time he fled the scene on foot. Dolf fled west towards the nearby Jack in the Box, where he was apprehended by Deputies who had given chase. A search of the Dolf’s vehicle revealed numerous stolen items from residential burglaries thought to be related to burglaries in Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction as well as that of other surrounding cities including Atherton and Menlo Park. Deputies reached out to allied agencies to alert them of the incident, the Menlo Park Police Department being one of them.

As it happened, at approximately 10:05 that morning, Menlo Park Police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 2400 block of Sharon Oaks Drive in their jurisdiction. A suspect reportedly had entered through an open garage door and took multiple items from an unlocked vehicle parked inside, after which the suspect then gained entry into the residence via an unsecured door and took several more items, then fled the scene. Menlo Park Police were in the midst of their investigation when they got our call. In conjunction with Dolf’s arrest, Menlo Park Police located and recovered the majority of the property from the earlier burglary.
