Suspect Arrested for Stealing Vehicles from Dealership

On August 19, 2014, at approximately 1700 hours, officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a car thief that was being detained by employees at the DCH Toyota car dealership, located at 2955 Pacific Coast Highway in the City of Torrance.

Jose Alfredo Flores, 23 years, of Wilmington was taken into custody without incident after employees recognized him as being a former employee.  Flores worked at the dealership as a porter through a company that was contracted through DCH Toyota.

Flores was seen by witnesses on the property earlier in the day driving a vehicle off the lot that was later reported stolen. The suspect returned to the dealership later that afternoon to presumably steal another vehicle. The suspect cooperated with detectives and is responsible for stealing three vehicles in less than a week from DCH Toyota.  The vehicles were brought in by customers for service. The first incident occurred on August 13, 2014. Detectives were able to recover two of the vehicles and their investigation is still ongoing.
