On 19 August 2014 at approximately 9:40pm the Burlington Police Department received a 911 call reporting an assault at an address on Maple Street in Burlington. The initial report indicated that a 7 year old had been physically assaulted by her uncle.
Burlington Police Officers subsequently responded to investigate. As a result of the investigation it was determined that Jacob Magee, 21 of Burlington had physically assaulted his 7 year old niece. The injuries sustained by the victim were not life threatening and no medical attention was needed.
Magee was taken into custody without incident and was lodged at Chittenden Regional County Correctional on $1000 bail. Magee is scheduled for arraignment today at 1030 at Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division.
The crime of domestic assault is punishable by term of imprisoned of not more than 18 months or a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
