Advisory

Emergency Training Excercise at East High School today, August 20th 7:30am-12:00pm.

There will be an emergency training exercise at East High School where law enforcement and emergency personnel will conduct a drill on Wednesday, August 20, between 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office will be coordinating the exercise, which will include local and surrounding law enforcement, emergency response agencies, and Emergency Management.
The drill will focus on how law enforcement and emergency personnel work with school administration if there is an actual emergency on campus. School Faculty will portray as teachers and students as well as victims to simulate a response to an actual emergency on campus. Emergency vehicles and personnel will be visible in the area of East Middle School and also East High School. Uniformed responders will react as they would in an actual emergency.

Planning for this exercise began several months ago, and the date was chosen so students would not be on campus.

Unfortunately, we have seen tragedy unfold on many school campuses. That’s why emergency planning exercises are a key part of Law Enforcement efforts to enhance campus safety. It’s crucial that we are prepared to deal with a worst-case scenario in the event that it ever happens in our county.
