INJURY COLLISION: LOCATION: Lakeville Highway @ South McDowell Extension, Petaluma
SUMMARY: Petaluma Police Traffic Unit responded to an injury collision at the listed intersection. It was determined a 66 year old Petaluma resident (Taylor) attempted to make a left hand turn from South McDowell Extension onto W/B Lakeville Highway.
Gary Welch, age 59 from Cloverdale had been traveling E/B in the number one lane on Lakeville Highway in a maroon Honda CRV. As Welch continued E/B on Lakeville Highway, JohnTaylor, age 66, from Petaluma was driving a tan Infiniti QX4 and pulled out in front of Welch causing this collision. It appeared Welch was traveling at the posted speed limit. Both Taylor and Welch were transported to Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. Both vehicles sustained major damage.
Welch was treated and released for chest pain. Taylor suffered from a collapsed lung and two broken ribs and was admitted into the hospital..
