Two Probationary Troopers Issued Police Cars to Start Solo Road Patrol Duties in the ISP Peru District
Indianapolis - Yesterday, 46 probationary troopers from the 73rd Indiana State Police Academy class was issued their state police cars at the Indiana State Police garage located at the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District. Two of the officers are assigned to the Indiana State Police Peru Post and will start solo patrol in the district which covers Cass, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Tipton, Wabash, and Miami Counties. The probationary officers recently completed a three month field training period with veteran troopers. They will serve a one year probationary period before attaining permanent status as a trooper.
In addition to the field training, the new officers received approximately 917 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques when they were assigned to Indiana State Police Academy. The curriculum included criminal law instruction, emergency vehicle operations training, psychology, and survival Spanish. They also developed skills in criminal investigation, vehicle crash investigation, and impaired driver prevention and detection.

Probationary Trooper Jonathan Cole is a native of Peru, IN and a 2003 graduate of Maconaquah High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University. He will patrol primarily in Miami County.
Probationary Trooper Steven Glass is a native of Wabash, IN. He is a 2003 graduate of Southwood High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Kokomo. He will patrol primarily in Grant County.
