ACCUSED: George Riley age 59 Ocean Township, NJ

NARRATIVE:
On 8/15/14 at approximately 6:50 pm, officers from the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to Sunset Avenue residence in response to man with a gun. An investigation revealed that a tenant at that location, later identified as George Riley, accosted an individual who was at that location doing work for the property owner. The victim reported that Mr. Riley produced a handgun and demanded the victim leave the property. The victim contacted the property owner who in turn contacted the police.

During the investigation police seized 130 items from Mr. Riley’s home including 47 firearms, an unlicensed assault rifle, a bayonet, stun gun, a silencer, 38 high capacity magazines and multiple rounds of hollow point bullets.

Mr. Riley was charged with Unlawful Possession of a weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of Assault Firearm without a license, Possession of Firearm Silencer, Possession of hollow nose bullets, Possession of OC (pepper) spray, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of high capacity ammunition magazines and Possession of stun gun. Bail was set by municipal court judge Timothy McGoughran at $50,000.00 with a ten percent option. He was released on bail to await a future court hearing.
