In the past week, Mt Kisco Police have received a number of complaints from motorists reporting that their car was “booted” via *Wheel Clamp while parked in the private lot at 198-200 E. Main Street. Additionally, motorists had to pay a fee to a private tow agency to remove the boot from the vehicle.

Motorists seeking to park in the vicinity of 198-200 Main Street are encouraged to utilize on street parking, the Dakin Ave Municipal Parking Lot, or the Blackeby Municipal Parking lot located at the rear of the former Borders Book site. Metered parking is free after 6:00pm Monday-Saturday, as well as all day Sundays.

Motorist who paid a fee to the private tow company and feel the practice was unlawful may consider seeking relief by consulting with an attorney for guidance and/ or speaking with a representative of the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection [914-995-2155].

*A wheel clamp is a large metal device which is fitted to the wheel of an illegally parked car or other vehicle in order to prevent it from being driven away. The motorist has to pay to have the clamp removed.
