OPD Requests Community Help in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case

Oakland, CA – The Oakland Police Department is again requesting assistance from the media and the public in identifying and locating a hit-and-run driver who is responsible for killing a pedestrian.

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 7:34 AM in the Temescal district of North Oakland, William Hoch Jr., 68, of Oakland was crossing the street (west bound) in the 5000 block of Telegraph Avenue when he was struck in the south bound lanes of traffic by a passing motorist. According to information provided to the police at the scene, the driver who hit him got out of his vehicle to check on him briefly, but then got back in and drove off. The suspect was possibly driving a white Audi or Infiniti SUV.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit Sergeant Lisa Ausmus at 510-777-8540.

The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver in this case. Anyone with information may call police at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
