Fontana- A Collaborative Effort Leads to a Suspect Being Arrested For Possession of 529 Game Birds for Fighting

LOCATION: 8400 Block of Redwood Ave, Fontana
SUSPECT(S): Eugenio Carbonel, 54 years of age, resident of Fontana
SUMMARY:
On Monday, August 11, 2014, deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station developed information reference roosters being raised for Cock Fighting at a large residential property in Fontana. Deputies and investigators of the Sheriff's Rural Crime Task Force served a search warrant at the location. The investigation was conducted in a collaborative effort with the Fontana Sheriff's Station, Fontana Police Animal Services, San Bernardino County Animal Control, Humane Society of the San Bernardino Valley, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
During the service of the warrant, 529 roosters were located on the property, most of which were kept in a manner consistent with being raised and trained for Cock Fighting. Many implements for Cock Fighting were also located at the property including metal gaffs, training mitts, veterinary medical supplies, wound treatment medication and fowl transport carriers.
The owner of the roosters, Eugenio Carbonel, was booked at West Valley Detention Center for Possession of Game Birds for Fighting & Possession of Cock Fighting Implements.
