APD officers arrest female in stolen minivan after eluding officers.
On Monday August 11th at approximately 6:00pm, an APD K-9 unit observed a stolen vehicle being driven by a W/F in her 40’s. The stolen vehicle is a 2002 Dodge Minivan and was reported stolen on August 10th. The same K-9 officer observed this same female driving the vehicle yesterday but was unable to make contact due to the traffic conditions at the time. Today as the officer was sitting at the light on Amarillo Blvd East and Grand, he observed the W/F driving the stolen Minivan eastbound on ABE (Amarillo Blvd East). The officer had to make the block in an attempt to get in behind the driver, however when he did so, the vehicle was nowhere in sight. Additional officers responded to the area in attempt to locate the stolen vehicle. The DPS helicopter was called to assist in locating the vehicle. Approximately 30 minutes later, officers observed the vehicle traveling southbound on Grand over the railroad tracks. As the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it once again took off at a high rate of speed and was driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid a spike strip. Officers immediately cancelled the chase and the DPS helicopter advised they were in position and would follow the vehicle so officers could back away. Eventually the driver got onto I-40 and was traveling east, leaving the city limits. DPS troopers and Carson County SO was contacted to assist the helicopter. DPS troopers were finally able to get the minivan stopped at FM 2373 and I-40. The driver was arrested without any further incident. APD officers went to the scene to process the vehicle and to take custody of the driver. The female is identified as Dianna Dee Stacks W/F 43; she was arrested for UUMV (Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle) and Evading Arrest/Detention in a Motor Vehicle. Stacks was transported and booked into Potter County Correction Center.
