On Friday August 8th at 11:00am, APD COPPS officers were following up on some leads from uniform patrol officers that a residence in west Amarillo was dealing in narcotics as well as stolen property. COPPS officers first conducted a knock and talk at the residence. With the additional information they received from the occupants wrote and executed a search warrant for the residence at 1920 Beech. Upon searching the residence officers located a small amount of methamphetamines, a stolen 55” TV (stolen in burglary March 2013) and several pieces of identifying information. Officers also recovered an AR-15 assault rifle that had the serial number ground off. Eugene Wiedl W/M was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance over 1 gram less than 4 grams; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon; and Interference with Public Servant Duties. A third occupant of the house was released. Officers recovered approximately 2 dozen identifiers (including credit/debit cards, personal checks, and payroll checks) a color laser scanner/printer, several blank “business” type checks, numerous drug paraphernalia items (pipes, digital scales). Both Jolly and Wiedl were booked into the Potter County Correction Center. This incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
