Amarillo man arrested early Monday morning on auto burglary and evading arresst charges.

On Monday August 11th at 2:48am, officers were sent to an auto burglary that just occurred in the 100 block of N LaSalle. As officers were taking the report, the victim had advised officers that they had seen a white extended cab pickup prowling the area earlier in the night. A broadcast was put out to other officers in the area to be watching for a PU matching the description. A few minutes later a K-9 unit observed a white PU several blocks south of the original area. The officer lost sight of the vehicle prior to catching up to it and was checking the area where it was last seen. A white Ford F-150 was found abandoned at 13th and Rosemont. The occupants appeared to have left the vehicle in a hurry as there were a glove and a phone just outside the pickup. Additional officers secured the perimeter while the K-9 officer and his partner began to track the suspects. The K-9 was able to track a suspect to a backyard and eventually into a shed where one suspect was taken into custody. He is identified as Caleb Alexander Jones W/M 24. Jones was arrested for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest/Detention, and 11 Municipal court warrants with fines totaling $4,897.20. A radar detector was recovered in the Ford PU that was stolen out of the victim’s car on LaSalle. Jones was transported and booked in the the Potter County Correction Center.
