Alleged Sex Offender Wanted in Utah Arrested in Lompoc

After several weeks of searching, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies located and arrested a Santa Barbara County resident who was wanted out of Utah since 2012 for alleged aggravated sexual abuse of a child.  In mid-July, 2014, while investigating a routine call in the Mission Hills area of Lompoc, deputies learned that 52-year-old Jose Luis Coronado was in the area.  Sheriff’s deputies began a search to find Coronado. The investigation culminated on Friday, August 8, 2014 when Coronado was located at his workplace in the City of Lompoc.  Sheriff’s deputies with the assistance of the Lompoc Police Department, arrested Coronado without incident.  He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail pending extradition to Utah.

During the investigation, deputies learned Coronado had been living in the city of Santa Barbara and Lompoc since fleeing Utah.  The Sheriff’s Office is concerned Coronado may have committed similar crimes in Santa Barbara County. If anyone has information regarding Coronado, please call the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip-Line at (805) 681-4171 or contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
