Modesto, CA – A suspect, wanted by Modesto Police for an attempted homicide, was arrested in Elk Grove yesterday.

On July 19, 2014 at 9:45 AM, dispatch received a call of gunshots fired in the area of Prescott Road and Chrysler Avenue. The two victims told officers they were driving in the neighborhood when a male drove up next to them and started shooting. The male quickly drove away from the area before police arrived.

The victims recognized the male as 25-year-old Jorge Gomez and gave officers a description of the car he was driving. After unsuccessful attempts at finding Gomez, detectives issued a warrant for his arrest.

Yesterday at about 10:30 AM, the Elk Grove Police Department notified investigators that they had located and arrested Gomez on the warrant. Modesto Police Detectives are still investigating a motive for the shooting, but believe it was the result of an ongoing dispute. The victims were not injured during the incident.

Gomez lived near the area where the shooting took place. Detectives are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or anyone who has information on Gomez.
