Chula Vista Police are actively searching for a missing 6 year old girl.


6 year old Alycea Mendez, born in April 08, was last seen in the apartment complex at 550 Oxford Street, near building 600 at about 9:00 am this morning. The child’s mother dropped the child off there to stay for the day (home from school) with the child’s aunt. The mother watched as the child walked toward the aunt’s apartment. The child never apparently reached the aunt’s apartment. The aunt called the mother at about 11:30 a.m. to ask where the child was. The mother immediately called police to report her daughter missing. Chula Vista Police are still actively searching for the child with the assistance of the San Diego Sheriff Department’s Air Unit and Search and Rescue Team. Anyone with information on the child’s whereabouts is asked to immediately call 911 or notify the Chula Vista Police Department.

The child is described as an Hispanic female, brown hair in a pony tail (dark on top and light toward the bottom). She was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue pants (school uniform).
