Original Release:
On Monday August 4th at 2:55pm, officers were sent to the 3300 block of Lewis Lane on a verbal argument between a separated husband and wife. As officers were responding to the area, additional calls were received that shots have now been fired. It is believed that the husband was in the process of removing some personal items from a vehicle that he and his separated wife share. The wife, later identified as Andrea Maria Hadaway W/F 35 came out of the house and confronted the husband and a verbal argument ensued. The husband decided that it was in his best interest to leave and as he was trying to do so, when Andrea partially climbed in the driver’s side window of his red Dodge Ram PU in an attempt to keep him there. While the husband was driving down the street, Andrea bit part of one of his fingers off. Somewhere near 34th and Lewis, Andrea either, jumped, fell or was pushed off the truck. By this time 2 other males had gotten into a white Pontiac Grand Am from the original address on Lewis and began chasing down the Dodge PU. As the PU was trying to elude the Pontiac, the occupants of the Pontiac fired at least 3 shots at the PU near the intersection of 34th and Patterson. The PU continued to evade the Pontiac as the vehicles circled the surrounding area. One passenger in the Pontiac told the driver to let him out near 35th and Virginia in an apparent attempt to ambush the driver of the PU. A few minutes later the driver of the PU was south bound on Virginia in the 3400 block. The male passenger that was let out earlier stepped in front of the Dodge PU and fired another round at the driver at 3414 S Virginia. The driver struck the suspect with the front of his truck and continued southbound then turning westbound onto 35th, then turned a northern direction where the PU crashed into the south west corner of the residence at 3414 S Virginia. This residence is unoccupied. The suspect was still on the front of the PU when the driver crashed into the house. The driver did suffer multiple gunshots to the upper part of the body and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect that was smashed into the house was located inside the house and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officers went to the original location on Lewis for follow up and located the driver of the Pontiac. He is identified as Preston Lerue Embry W/M 43. Embry was arrested and later booked into Randall County on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Andrea Hadaway was also arrested for Aggravated Assault causing serious bodily injury. Another female, Kayce Leann Keith W/F 28 was in the residence on Lewis was arrested for outstanding local municipal warrants. Officers recovered a weapon under the truck at the accident scene on Virginia, and a black pellet handgun at the residence on Lewis. Officers also located a small amount of methamphetamines near the crash site on Virginia. The victim – the driver of the truck remains hospitalized. The other suspect is being guarded at a local hospital and upon medical release, will be booked on Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge. This incident remains under investigation.
