Drunk Driver Runs Over Two Bystanders, #LASD West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station

On Thursday, August 7, 2014, at approximately 2:09am, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies from West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station received an assault with a deadly weapon call at North Robertson Boulevard and El Tovar Place, West Hollywood.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 29 year-old Hector Hernandez, a resident of Whittier, and 23 year-old Joseph Osuna from Bakersfield, were involved in a verbal altercation with two women in a private parking lot.

Osuna, for unknown reasons, began hitting both women with a his belt before entering a car being driven by Hernandez. As Hernandez and Osuna fled the scene, witness accounts stated another woman and another man, who were not involved in the altercation, were intentionally run over.

LASD deputies quickly located and detained the suspects on Santa Monica Boulevard and Genesee Avenue. They were taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez was arrested and booked at West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station on assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence charges. He is being held in lieu of $ 40,000 bail.

Osuna, who was also booked at West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

The two women assaulted with the belt sustained non-life threatening injuries. Although one was treated at the scene, the other was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The two other victims who were run over were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The woman is currently listed in critical condition and the man was treated and released.

There is no additional information at this time.
