Reports of Telephone Scams Occurring in Mariposa Today
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is warning all residence about a Telephone Scam. Scammers are using scrambling devices to change the phone number shown on the caller ID, in some cases showing the Sheriff’s Office phone number 966-3615. The Scammers are identifying themselves as Sheriff’s Office Personnel and using names of current staff members or other governmental agencies, stating they are attempting to collect a debt.
We would like to remind everyone not to give personal information out over the phone. The Sheriff’s Office will never contact you via the phone to collect a debt.
