Shelters Open in Albany in Wake of Tonight's Storm.
ALBANY, NY (August 5, 2014) -- Volunteers from the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York Region are opening a shelter beginning at 9:30 following tonight's severe flooding in the City of Albany. Staffers will be at the Meyers Middle School, 100 Elbel Court, just off Whitehall Road for anyone who has been flooded out of their residence or has lost power.
Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan, working with Albany Police Department and the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York, has taken steps to ensure that Albany residents who have been displaced due the storm have shelter this evening. The shelter will remain open as long as needed.
