Man From Incident This Afternoon Now in Police Custody Thanks to the Public's Help

(Noble County, IN)-Anthony Michael McClellan, the man for whom investigators were seeking as a person of interest in connection with this afternoon’s incident near Big Lake in which there was an attempt to run over a State Trooper with a vehicle, is now in police custody.

According to reports, at approximately 8:42 p.m., observant and concerned citizens called 911 indicating that a man wearing a green shirt and blue jeans was in the area of State Road 109 near Goss Grocery, which was not far from where police spent the better part of four hours searching earlier in the day. Both Noble and Whitley County Sheriff Departments received 911 calls and then dispatched the information.

Trooper Jonathon Amburgey responded to the area and observed McClellan who, just as he did earlier, attempted to flee on foot. At approximately 8:46 p.m., he was caught and taken into custody by Amburgey. McClellan was taken to and incarcerated in the Noble County Jail, preliminarily on unrelated charges for which arrest warrants already existed. Detectives are continuing their investigation into the events surrounding this afternoon’s incident.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
