Advisory

Vandalism at Taft School

The Redwood City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying subjects possibly involved in a vandalism at Taft School.

On August 3, 2014 at approximately 8:20 pm, RCFD and RCPD units responded to a fire at Taft School, 903 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, RCFD personnel found the ornamental foliage on a fence along the West side of the school on fire. The fire was doused quickly and there was no permanent damage to the school or surrounding structures.
The fire destroyed an approximate 15’ section of ivy type foliage and charred the fence in very close proximity to the buildings.

It was later determined the subjects also spray painted graffiti and attempted to ignite several additional sections of the school structure. The graffiti was spray painted with yellow paint and the subjects involved are believed to be three Hispanic male juveniles approximately 14 to 15 years of age.

The graffiti appears to contain the letters “STAY” and is possibly related to a prior vandalism incident where the suspect tagged the words “STAY TRUE.”

If you recognize the graffiti or have any information related to the vandalism, you are asked to contact the Redwood City Police Department.

Please do not take action yourself and immediately call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency. Otherwise, please call the Redwood City Police non-emergency number at (650)780-7100 or contact Detective Joe O'Gorman at (650)780-7147.
