31st Annual National Night Out is tonight!

Torrance is participating in National Night Out Tonight!!  This year, National Night Out is celebrating its 31st anniversary.  The City of Torrance has been participating in National Night Out for over 13 years.

National Night Out was created in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.

The traditional “lights on” campaign and symbolic front porch vigils turned into a celebration across America with various events and activities including, but not limited to, block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from emergency personnel, rallies and marches, exhibits, youth events, safety demonstrations and seminars, in effort to heighten awareness and enhance community relations.

The Torrance Police Department is a strong supporter of Neighborhood Watch and we have over 400 active Neighborhood Watch groups.  This year we have 21 Neighborhood Watch block parties with our Neighborhood Watch members.  There will be over 65 Torrance Police Officers on hand to attend each party.  Last year we took the opportunity to educate the public on the AB109 bill and its effects on the City of Torrance.  We also introduced our “See Something, Say Something” campaign.

This year we will be providing an update on the success of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign and our newly-released video “See Something, Say Something” Part II.  Click the following link to view both of the “See Something, Say Something” videos:

We are continuously working to encourage more citizens to become involved in Neighborhood Watch.  If you do not have a Neighborhood Watch in your neighborhood, please go to the following link and sign up or call 310-618-6392:
