Two Facing Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Jackson County: Early this morning a traffic stop led to the arrest of two individuals on drug charges. According to Trooper Randel Miller, at approximately 3:45 this morning he stopped a 1991 Chevrolet passenger car driven by 44 year old Kenneth Hurt of Jackson, KY on I-65 southbound near the 51 mile marker for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop Tpr. Miller became suspicious of criminal activity. His K-9 partner, Jinx was walked around the vehicle and she alerted on the presence of drugs within the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed the passenger in the vehicle, 23 year old Chad Hardin also of Jackson, KY had a bag containing approximately 400 grams of Methadose tablets, a Schedule II controlled substance. Hardin and Hurt were both arrested without incident and were transported to Jackson County Jail where they are facing charges of Possession of over 28 grams of Schedule II Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Deal in over 28 grams of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, both Level 2 felonies. Tpr. Miller was assisted by Tpr. Seth Davidson.

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
