2014Aug4-PJWaterDept. is searching for source of tinted water. The discoloration does not affect potability & water is fine for consumption
2014 Aug 4 - The City of Port Jervis water department is currently searching for the source of the tinted water that is being observed by residents throughout the city. The probability of a leak causing turbidity (such as when they flush hydrants) is most likely the source. Unfortunately this aging water system and leaks are like looking for a needle in a haystack if the leak doesn't rise to the surface. This happened several years ago and took some time to pinpoint. The city would like to assure its residents that the discoloration has nothing to do with potability and that the water is fine for consumption — in Port Jervis, NY.
