Roll Over Beer Truck on I-65

Lake County-A semi loaded with beer rolled over early this morning, closing the left lane down on I-65 northbound at the 237 mile marker (this is approximately three miles south of the Lowell exit).

Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Martin Benner revealed that at approximately 6:45 a.m., this Monday, August 04, 2014, morning, a 2012 Volvo semi pulling a box trailer, owned by Enroute Transport Incorporated out of Chicago, Illinois and driven by Khurshid A. Makhmudov, 31 of Vancouver, Washington, was north on I-65 in the left lane when Makhmudov stated he was adjusting his radio. This caused the semi to drift off the roadway toward the west. Makhmudov overcorrected to the right, lost control of the semi, the semi went into to the grassy median where it rolled, sliding approximately 200 feet, onto the driver’s side.

Makhmudov was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with a laceration to his forearm. He was cited for Unsafe Lane Movement.

The semi was loaded with bottled and cans of beer. The top of the box trailer split open after rolling over and a portion of the load was loss in the median. The beer will have to be off loaded onto another trailer before it can be up righted.

The left lane is closed at the above location until the off loading, reloading, and up righting is completed. Motorists need to pay attention if they are going to be traveling in this vicinity as there is slowed/stopped traffic in this area.
