Captain charges pair with conspiring and attempting to rob Marion man Friday afternoon

Capt. Ricky Crisp of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 20-year-old Robert Colon Finley, of Jacktown Road in Marion, and 32-year-old Heather Nichole Taylor, of Summerset Park in Old Fort, each with felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.
While in Old Fort at approximately 4 p.m. Friday, Crisp received information of a suspicious man and vehicle parked on Greenlee Road near the railroad tracks.
The captain responded and found a male and a female inside the car and a man standing outside.
The male inside the vehicle, John Kelly, of Marion, told Crisp that the other man had just tried to rob him.
Crisp stated that Taylor, who was driving, briefly stopped the car on the side of the road and Finley came from the woods carrying a gun. Finley allegedly ordered Kelly to give him his money and that’s when Crisp arrived on the scene.
The captain said further investigation revealed that Finley and Taylor allegedly conspired with one another to rob Kelly.
Old Fort Police Chief Melvin Lytle assisted Crisp at the scene.
