SUBJECT: Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers from the Town of Guilderland Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Stuyvesant Plaza at 1475 Western Ave.

The operator of a 2007 Honda, Eleanor McClellan-Mead of Vestal NY, was traveling east on Western Ave when she drove off of the right side of the road and struck a telephone pole. The vehicle overturned and she was trapped inside the vehicle. She was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Westmere Fire Department, McKownville Fire Department, and North Bethlehem Fire Department, and received medical attention from the Town of Guilderland Paramedics and Western Turnpike Rescue Squad. She was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries by Western Turnpike Rescue Squad.

Western Ave was closed from Fuller Road to Schoolhouse Road for an extended period of time due to power lines across the road while National Grid made repairs to the telephone pole downed lines.

At this time Western Ave is open. The accident is still under investigation.
