The Sheriff's Office Special Operations Unit located stabbing suspect inside his residence and took him into custody for attempted murder
At 5:55 PM deputies were summoned to the 1200 block of Mission Drive in Sonoma at the Temelec Retirement Community for a stabbing incident.
When deputies arrived, they worked with emergency medical personnel to evacuate a victim that had multiple stab wounds to his stomach and torso.
The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
The suspect, identified as 55 year old, Hector 'Gustavo' Vasquez was known to the victim and after the stabbing, Vasquez fled inside his residence, which is located in the 1200 block of Mission Drive
Law enforcement personnel from the Sheriff's Office Special Operations Unit, which consist of SWAT Team members, Hostage Negotiators, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, a County Mental Health Professional for Crisis Intervention and other support staff, responded to the scene.
A search warrant for the premises of where the stabbing occurred as well as an arrest warrant for Vasquez was obtained.
Hostage Negotiators spent hours attempting to solicit a dialogue from Vasquez but all attempts failed.
After being on scene for approximately seven hours, the SWAT Team breached a bedroom window of Vasquez's residence and located him inside.
Vasquez surrendered and was taken into custody peacefully for attempted murder.
