Come Join Us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Tuesday, August 5, 2014, the Costa Mesa Police Department invites local residents to join the National Night Out celebration of community/police partnerships, by attending this event generously sponsored by Target. Costa Mesa Police Department will be joining with other police departments throughout the United States and Canada, also celebrating the national event, popularly known as “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.

National Night Out is designed to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!

This year’s event will be held at Target, 3030 Harbor Blvd., from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. There will be Police and Fire Department displays, including SWAT, Crime Prevention, Communications, CERT, and MESAC. Other community organizations will also be on hand to provide information on drug and alcohol awareness. There will be hot dogs and water provided free of charge, as well as a coloring contest, and raffle prizes for both kids and adults. New this year – the Big Red “If You See Something, Say Something” Backpack! This campaign is sponsored by Keep OC Safe and the Department of Homeland Security.

“This has always been an important event for our Police Department and the community”, said Chief Tom Gazsi. “Building strong community partnerships can only lead to a safer and better-connected community.”
