One Airlifted Following Crash
Ripley County: One person was airlifted from the scene of a crash late this morning. According to Senior Trooper Adam Bullock, shortly after 11:00 a.m. a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 53 year old Robert L. Brown of Indianapolis had just exited eastbound I-74 at S.R. 101 (Exit 156). At the top of the ramp he failed to yield to a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 71 year old Johnny R. Norman of Batesville. As the Malibu pulled out onto S.R. 101 it was struck broadside by the Silverado. After impact the Malibu skidded down the embankment on the southeast side of the interchange. The passenger in the Malibu, 46 year old Angela D. Brown also of Indianapolis had to be extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted to University Hospital in Cincinnati with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Robert Brown and Johnny Norman suffered minor abrasions. Brown was cited for Failure to Yield at a Through Roadway.
S/Tpr. Bullock was assisted at the scene by Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Sunman Fire Department, Sunman EMS, U.C. Air Care.
