#LASD Deputies in Lancaster Seize over 600 Marijuana Plants & arrest 2

Hi SHB Group,

DATE: Wednesday, July 30, 2014

TIME: 10:00 AM

SUSPECT(S): Gregory, Jarrett (M/27) and Devlin, Steven (M/34)

LOCATION: 23400 block of East Avenue K-8, Lake Los Angeles

UNIT: Lancaster Sheriff Station

Deputies from Lancaster Sheriff’s Station’s Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Team and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Bureau served a search warrant Wednesday morning at a residence near 240th Street East and Avenue K-8. Over 600 marijuana plants were being cultivated inside the residence and detached garage. A large amount of harvested marijuana, a shotgun, and several thousand dollars in cash were also found within the residence.

Two men, Jarret Gregory of Huntington Beach and Steven Devlin of Oceanside, were arrested at the residence and charged with Marijuana Cultivation (11358 Health and Safety) and Marijuana Sales (11359 Health and Safety).

A docile pit bull terrier was given over to the care of Los Angeles Animal Control since no one at the location could care for it.

LASD Narcotic’s Bureau obtained a search warrant for the residence after two deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Team observed indicators of marijuana cultivation at the residence.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors funds the Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Program in order to supplement the patrol units normally assigned to the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The program’s teams assist with addressing the increase in criminal activity which occurs during the summer months.

Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff’s stations each have a Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Team consisting of a sergeant and five deputies. During the first 11 weeks of the team’s operation this year, the Lancaster Team has made over 390 arrests.
