Operation Secure Communities - East County

The Santee Sheriff's Station has implemented a Summer Watch program as part of a countywide Sheriff's Department crime‐fighting initiative called Operation Secure Communities.

Summer Watch will use a variety of strategies to decrease crime in the City of Santee and the unincorporated communities of Lakeside and El Cajon.

On July 29th, 28 people were arrested during parole and probation checks from 6:00 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. on July 30th. 28 deputies and seven probation officers took part in the sweep. For photos, follow us on Facebook: http://goo.gl/qKdsYt.

The Sheriff's Department works with County Probation to ensure parolees and probationers are complying with the conditions of their release. The goal is to identify parolees and probationers involved in crime and their associates. The compliance checks are conducted to help those on conditional release avoid a criminal lifestyle. This is in addition to patrol teams already out in the field.

The Santee Sheriff's Station is also deploying high visibility patrols along the riverbed and the Lindo Lake Park area of Lakeside. Deputies are patrolling on foot and riding marked Sheriff's bicycles. The Senior Volunteer Patrol and Volunteer Mounted Patrol are out in the community looking for suspicious activity.

The horse patrols are new to this area. The Sheriff's Department is always looking for people who already own and care for a horse and would like to volunteer for this unit. To learn more, visit http://goo.gl/OYFl0.

It is the Sheriff's Department's goal to provide the highest quality public safety service in an effort to make San Diego the safest urban county in the nation.
