On 7/28, SPD Explorer Post conduct courtesy vehicle check 88 vehicles on south side. 50% didn't pass the inspection!

On 7-28-14, during the hours of 6-8:30 pm, the Sheboygan Law Enforcement Explorer Post once again teamed up with our police department to conduct courtesy vehicle checks. This operation was conducted in the Flats Neighborhood on the city’s south side. Over 88 total vehicles were checked. Unfortunately, 50% of the vehicles found did not pass the inspection. Numerous vehicles were found to have valuables being stored in plain view, where a thief would have been able to see the valuables without opening a car door or entering the vehicle. A couple vehicles were unlocked and had the keys in the ignition. Contact was made with the vehicle owners to reinforce the goal of preventing thefts as well as discussing efforts on how they can help reduce the chance of becoming a victim of crime.

Prevent becoming a victim of crime, secure your vehicles and property time every time you get out of your vehicle and do not leave valuables in plain view.
