Police Arrest One Man and Seeking Second Man in Connection with Sunday's Homicide on North Royal Street

Jackson police have arrested one man and are seeking a second man in connection with Sunday's murder of Justin Williams on North Royal Street.

Mondarrius Miller, 21, of Jackson, was developed by investigators as one of the suspects involved. Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which is comprised of Jackson police investigators and deputy marshals, along with Jackson police officers took Miller into custody on a Jackson hotel parking lot.

Miller remains in custody at the Madison County Jail and will be arraigned via video link at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Jackson City Court on a charge of second-degree murder.

Dontavious Hendrix, 23, was identified as the second man involved in Williams' murder. Investigators have signed a second-degree murder warrant for Hendrix's arrest.

At approximately 1:26 p.m. Sunday, police were called about a shooting on the 2000 block of North Royal Street. Justin Williams, 20, of Jackson, was shot outside a residence. Williams was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators developed the case and determined that just prior to the shooting, Williams was outside talking to Hendrix and Miller. Shots were fired, and Hendrix and Miller ran from Williams and to a car. The two men then got in the car and sped away from the scene.

The motive into the murder remains under investigation.

Extensive search measures are underway to find Hendrix. He is a black man, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 180 pounds. His last known address is in Lanecrest Apartments on Lane Avenue

Hendrix is also wanted on an outstanding attachment out of Madison County Juvenile Court for failure to comply with a court order.

Anyone with information about the case or Hendrix's whereabouts is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 (TIPS). Submit a cyber tip at jmcrimestoppers.org and click on “web tips”.
