Chula Vista - Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted a Distracted Driver Operation on Thursday July 24, 2014 between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM within the City of Chula Vista.

Distracted driver operations concentrate on drivers talking on their cell phones or texting while operating a motor vehicle.

During this operation, stops were conducted on 62 vehicles. 32 drivers were cited for utilizing their cell phone while driving, 26 drivers were cited for texting. 4 drivers were cited for either having a suspended driver’s license or no license at all. 1 driver was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. 2 vehicles were impounded during the operation for the driver having a suspended license.

This was considered a successful operation. The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by encouraging drivers to follow the rules of the road.
