Trooper Townsend Promoted to Corporal at Indianapolis State Police Post
Indianapolis, IN-Monday, July 21st, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Trooper Chris Townsend to the rank of Corporal to serve as Post Commander at the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District. Townsend was selected after competing in a stringent written and oral interview process. The Indianapolis District is comprised of seven counties; Marion, Shelby, Boone, Hamilton, Johnson, Hendricks, and Hancock.
Townsend is a native of Aberdeen, Mississippi and a 2000 graduate of Aberdeen High School. He attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 2004.
Townsend began his law enforcement career in 2008 upon graduation from the 69th Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the Indianapolis Post and has patrolled Marion County until his recent promotion. Townsend is currently attending Indiana State University pursuing a Master of Arts degree in public administration.
Corporal Townsend’s primary responsibility is to act on routine or emergency situations on behalf of the district commander.
Corporal Townsend resides with his wife and son in Marion County.
