Today, the Lafayette Police Department with the assistance from the Monticello Police Department and White County Sheriffs Department arrested two people in connection with a series of purse snatching thefts. These thefts occurred at various retail stores in the Lafayette area. LPD Detective Patrick Dempster arrested 22 year old Lindsey R. Hogg and 23 year old Rachel D. Hickman, both of Monticello. They were transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail where they were booked on suspicion of theft relating to eight separate incidents.

We want to encourage everyone to pay close attention to purses, wallets, or any valuables that may be left unattended while shopping. These thefts can occur within a matter of seconds, and you may not immediately notice anything missing until much later. When exiting the store it’s a good practice to secure your purse or other valuable belongings in your vehicle before loading groceries or merchandise.
