Man Airlifted To Hospital After Serious Accident In Chula Vista And Roads Closed For Investigation.

At 1:18 AM, Chula Vista Police Officers were dispatched to a call of a single vehicle crash on Olympic Parkway just East of Brandywine Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a large Palm tree. A second large Palm was already knocked to the ground and partially blocking one of the eastbound lanes of traffic. The driver was conscious, badly injured and trapped in the badly damaged vehicle. The man appeared to be in his twenties and believed to be alone in the car at the time of the crash. The Chula Vista Fire Department responded and cut into the vehicle to eventually release the trapped driver. The man was Airlifted to a local hospital with very serious injuries. The Chula Vista Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate. All Eastbound lanes of Olympic Parkway are going to be closed from Brandywine Avenue to Heritage Road until about 8:00 AM. Anyone needing to travel the closed road is advised to use an alternate route.
