Suspicious Death Investigation - Update

On Sunday, 7-20-14, at approximately 2:38 AM, the Sausalito Police Department received a report of shots fired. Further investigation led the officers to a residence in the 100 block of San Carlos Avenue. Officers responded to the residence, made entry to check the welfare of people inside and ultimately found two deceased persons. The Sausalito Police Department is being assisted by the Central Marin Police Authority and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Marin County Sheriff-Coroner has authorized the names of the deceased persons to be released. They have been identified as Robyn Chan, a 51 year old male out of Sausalito and Mara Truly, a 42 year old female out of Sacramento.

On Tuesday 7-22-14, the autopsies were performed and the pathologist determined that both subjects died from gunshot wounds. Five weapons were recovered from the scene, four of which were registered to Robyn Chan and one which was unregistered. One of the weapons was an AR 15, and two of the weapons had high capacity magazines.

The Sausalito Police Department will be working over the next few days to complete the remaining interviews and investigation related to this incident. It is important to understand there is no threat to the community. This case is an isolated incident and is not related to the recent burglaries. The police department is very appreciative of the exceptional patience and understanding the community has shown during this investigation.
