Four Arrested During Spice Investigation

New Castle – At 11 p.m. last evening members of the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad served a search warrant on a trailer located at 556 W Terry Drive, Lot 15 in New Castle as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession of Spice, or synthetic marijuana. The investigation started on a traffic stop in the early morning hours of July 4th that saw two New Castle men arrested for Spice.

Meth Suppression Troopers had stopped a maroon blazer for a headlight out shortly before 2 a.m. on July 4th on SR3 south of Riley Road. As a result of that stop two New Castle men, Larry Burcham age 30 and Mathew Conover, age 32, were arrested for Felony Dealing a Synthetic Drug (Spice) Over Two Grams.

The investigation culminated last evening with the search warrant being served at the 556 W. Terry Drive address. Arrested was John C. Abner, age 31, and Amanda L. Bennett, age 28. Abner was charged with Felony Dealing a Synthetic Drug (Spice) and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony.

Bennett was charged with Felony Dealing a Synthetic Drug (Spice,) Possession of Cocaine and Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony. Bennett and Abner were lodged in the Henry County Jail.

The Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad was assisted during this lengthy investigation by the Henry County and Hancock County Prosecutor’s Offices and Sheriff’s Departments, and by Shirley Police Department K-9 Officer Brian Pryor and his partner Huron.
