Advisory

NWS -BEACH HAZARD/dangerous swim conditions until 7 pm today w/high waves, longshore, structural & rip currents

The National Weather Service has issued a BEACH HAZARD STATEMENT, which calls for DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS. This statement remains in effect until 7 PM this evening for Sheboygan Area Beaches.

*** High wave action, strong structural, longshore and rip currents are expected***

High wave action makes swimming difficult and can tire even a strong swimmer quickly. Structural currents can sweep you out into deeper water along the pier structure. Structural currents form along piers where longshore currents and wave action flow into the structure.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in sandbars. Rip currents can sweep you into deeper water.

Please, do not overestimate your swimming ability, and take heed to the beach hazard statement.
