Press Release: Purse Thefts

ACCUSED: 17 year old Ocean Township male
NARRATIVE:
On 7/10/14 at approximately 12:10 pm, officers responded to a reported purse theft that just occurred at the Foodtown Supermarket in Middlebrook Plaza. Witnesses observed a male riding a bicycle steal the victim’s purse and ride away. Officers were in the area and apprehended the subject behind a furniture store in the area of State Highway 35 and Willow Drive. The victim’s purse and all its contents were recovered in the shopping plaza.
A further investigation by Detective Jeffrey Malone revealed that the juvenile was also responsible for a similar theft that occurred several days earlier at a Laundromat on West Park Avenue. The juvenile was taken into custody and later released into the custody of his mother. The juvenile will be charged with two counts of theft and will appear at a later date in the Monmouth County Family Court, Freehold NJ.
