DPS Blotter July 15 - July 21

Welcome to the DPS Blotter. These messages are being sent out to raise community awareness of public safety events occurring within our community, educate the public about safe practices, and to encourage community engagement by reporting criminal or suspicious behavior to DPS. Wednesday July 16

Residential Burglary – 400 Blk Central Avenue
Time: 1709
A resident called to report seeing two unknown subjects entering a neighbor’s backyard. Upon officer’s arrival, two subjects were seen exiting the house. Upon seeing the officers the subjects fled on foot. After a brief chase, both subjects were apprehended. A vehicle nearby was associated with the subjects. A search of that vehicle revealed property taken from other residential burglaries that occurred earlier in the day. Both subjects were booked into County Jail. NOTE: This case is yet another example of the importance for residents to call DPS when they see suspicious people or activity in their neighborhood.

Residential Burglary – 500 Blk E. Remington
Time: 0900-1800
Unknown suspect entered the apartment by forcing open a kitchen window. It was unknown what was taken from the apartment.

Residential Burglary – 1300 Blk Los Arboles
Time: 0900 – 1915
Unknown suspect entered the residence and stole electronics and jewelry.

Residential Burglary – 1500 Blk Oriole
Time: 1030 – 2000
Unknown suspect entered the residence by forcing open a side garage door and stole electronics and jewelry.

Fatal Accident – Mary & Rockefeller
Time: 2101
Police and Fire units responded on a report of an auto versus pedestrian collision. Personnel discovered the pedestrian on the roadway with serious injuries. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and subsequently died from the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and was not arrested or cited. DPS’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the collision.

Friday July 18

Attempted Armed Robbery – 700 Blk. N. Fair Oaks
Time: 0211
The victim was walking in the parking lot of an apartment complex when approached by the unknown suspect who produced a handgun and demanded money. The victim indicated he did not have any money and the suspect walked away.

Saturday July 19

Residential Burglary – 1000 Blk. Colton
Time: 0235
While the residents were in their bedroom they heard the sounds of someone walking in their house. When the residents checked, they saw two unknown suspects walking around inside the house. The suspects fled with electronics, checks, and the keys to the resident’s vehicle. The vehicle had been parked on the street but was stolen by the suspects. Later the same day, San Ramon PD advised they had located the resident’s vehicle and had arrested two subjects in possession of the vehicle. The burglary investigation is continuing.

Sunday July 20

Aggravated Assault – 540 N. Fair Oaks
Time: 1853
Two subjects at Fair Oaks Park got involved in a dispute which resulted in one of the subjects assaulting the other subject resulting in significant injuries. The suspect was located at an encampment nearby. The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault and booked into County Jail. Three other subjects were also contacted at the encampment and arrested for outstanding warrants and probation violation.

Armed Robbery – 400 Blk. E. Persian
Time: 1902
The victim was walking along the street when approached by the unknown suspect. The suspect produced a handgun and stole the victim’s wallet and a gold chain around his neck.

Monday July 21

EMS/CPR – 100 Blk. San Zeno Way
Time: 0821
Fire personnel responded on a report of a person down with bystanders performing CPR. Upon arrival, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was applied and shocks were delivered. Upon arrival at the hospital the patient had regained a pulse.

Residential Burglary – 1100 Blk. W. Iowa
Time: 1105 – 1255
Unknown suspect entered the residence by forcing open a side garage door and stole jewelry and cash.

Fraud – 600 Blk. S. Fair Oaks
Time: 1759
The victim met the suspect after making an on-line arrangement to sell a cellular phone. The suspect used counterfeit currency to purchase the phone. The suspect was subsequently contacted and arrested for fraud. The suspect was out on bail for an arrest for the same activity earlier this month. Two other suspects who were staged in a get-away vehicle were also arrested. Numerous counterfeit currencies were located during a search. The investigation is continuing to determine the suspects’ involvement in similar crimes throughout the area.
